I’m an Educator, recently retired from a district after 45 years of teaching, and although this should make me proud, and properly prepared to sit back and confidently pass the torch on to those behind me, I am no longer sure of what it is I’m to pass on.

Just the word “Education” has become controversial today. But what is not controversial is that what we received in the classroom just a few short years ago is NOT what is currently being presented in our classrooms.

“What do you mean”? concerned parents and grandparents ask…and this, to me, is the meat of the problem.

Many of us have been blessed to have come from excellent educational institutions, with strong moral and cultural backgrounds. We were brought up at a time when there was little cause to worry that what was being taught might not agree with what we wanted our children to learn. Sadly, this is no longer the case. What’s worse, most adults are unaware of this discrepancy.

And those who do find wrong and dare to speak out, are silenced.
